January 2019: first song off "Calendar".

We’re going on tour in March from California to Austin TX for SXSW! I’m very excited to spend 2 weeks exploring new places with my best friends all while doing my favorite thing: playing music. I had to write a song to communicate to the other band members just how excited I am. There’re no other people I’d rather be with while setting out on this adventure.

“Toursong” is also the beginning of another musical adventure. Luca and I decided that in 2019 we’d like to take a different approach to recording and releasing music, each month we’re going to release one single. These singles will be compiled into an album, a new song added each month until the project is finished at the end of the year. The project, titled “Calendar,” will slowly unfold, one song at a time. Each month you can flip the page and hear the new sonic photo we have chosen to represent the month. Each release will also include original art work by one of my favorite artists and one of my oldest friends, Eli Wengrin.

“Toursong” is also about being excited to explore this new musical terrain with Luca. For the first 4 years as a band, we’ve been very focused on creating full, cohesive albums. However, looking around at the current state of music it’s obvious that the era of the album is over, and it feels like a new and exciting challenge to finish a song each month. The chorus of “Toursong” talks about playing the first Baseball Gregg song ever released, “Mathdance,” on our tour.

I’m excited to take all our past experience into the future. I can’t wait to see the world with my friends.
